Drive Proudly with the 2021 Volvo XC40 Electric Recharge

Today, the vast majority of manufacturers have already announced their plans for electrification. With legislatures set to ban the sale of new vehicles with combustion engines starting in 2035, manufacturers need to act quickly.

As always, Volvo has been proactive in promising a "green" shift, well before the competition.

The electric future has been in the works for a long time at Volvo. The brand’s first battery-powered model is already on the road, in the form of a combustion engine-free version of the 2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge SUV

Let’s discover this model that you can admire at your Volvo dealer in Laval. Don’t hesitate to take advantage of the Volvo benefits at your Volvo Laval dealer near Terrebonne, Saint-Eustache, Sainte-Thérèse, Boisbriand and just a few minutes from Montreal. Take advantage of Volvo current offers to purchase a new Volvo vehicle of the year or get your hands on a certified Volvo pre-owned vehicle.

    Striking Style

When the regular XC40 hit the market, it immediately became a sensation because of its absolutely stunning design. The electric version does more than that, with a sleeker grille that doesn’t require an opening for engine cooling. This is the first thing that differentiates this version. The XC40 is available in eight colours, each one as beautiful as the other.

    Competition

The luxury compact electric vehicle market is still in its early stages, but there are already a few competitors to the XC40, including the Tesla Model Y, the Jaguar I-Pace and the Audi e-tron. Priced more attractively than the others, the XC40 easily stands out from its rivals because it offers everything buyers want in this segment: great range and equally acceptable performance

    Configuration

All versions of the Volvo XC40 Recharge are equipped with two electric motors, one driving the front wheels and the other the rear wheels. This gives you permanent all-wheel drive. A 75-kWh battery supplies the powertrain. The powertrain develops an impressive 402 horsepower. According to Volvo, this allows the XC40 Recharge to reach 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. The model is equipped with a regenerative braking system that allows you to drive using only one pedal, which is very appreciable. In fact, to put it simply, the vehicle brakes when the gas pedal is released and you can come to a complete stop this way.

As for the range announced, Volvo estimates it at 335 kilometres, which is very respectable and sufficient for the vast majority of daily trips. Above all, on a fast-charging station (150 kW), it is possible to recover 80% of the vehicle’s autonomy in only 40 minutes. At home, with a level-two terminal, it takes between eight and ten hours to go from zero to 100% capacity.

The battery of the Volvo XC40 Recharge is guaranteed for a period of 8 years or 160,000 km by the company.

    A Unique Experience

Behind the wheel, the model provides a truly unique experience. First, it is worth mentioning that the regular version already offers a near-perfect balance. With the location of the batteries in the electric version, the weight distribution is even more optimal. Consequently, on the road, the model’s poise is even more impressive. As we have seen, acceleration is responsive and the fact that it is all very quiet only adds refinement to the experience.

    Technology

The 2021 XC40 Recharge has the same interior layout and no loss of space. It even gains a trunk in the front! Then, when it comes to connectivity, we take it to another level.

Instead of using Volvo’s current Sensus Connect multimedia system, the XC40 Recharge takes advantage of a new generation of software developed in collaboration with Google’s Android Automotive. The system is intuitive and fast. A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster is also offered, and it provides several customization options. Despite the collaboration with Google, the new multimedia system will offer connectivity options for Android and Apple iPhone devices. Wireless smartphone charging is also offered.

The 2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge is one of the most interesting solutions in the world of all-electric compact SUV. Don’t hesitate to come and discover it at your local Volvo Laval dealer to realize how proudly it could become your next vehicle.
