Volvo’s electric SUV is back for the 2023 model year. With impressive performance and many other interesting features, Volvo’s new C40 model is sure to please.
Here’s what there is to know about the new electric Volvo in relation to its powertrain, on-board technologies, cargo volume and, of course, price.
2023 C40 Recharge Powertrain and Performance
All C40 Recharge models come with two electric motors to power it: one mounted at the front of the vehicle and the other at the rear.
This configuration, which makes all-wheel drive standard with this Volvo SUV, is capable of delivering 402 horsepower.

Inside its trunk, the C40 Recharge offers a cargo capacity of 413 L. If needed, the rear seats can be lowered to increase the cargo volume to a maximum of 1,387L.
Despite this somewhat small cargo volume for an SUV, it is important to know that the C40 comes, like many other electric cars, with an additional storage space under the hood of the vehicle, where the engine would normally be in gasoline cars.
This compartment makes it easy to carry charging cables and other utility items that you won’t use often. Also, this means that the trunk’s utility volume can be fully freed for your various daily needs.
Finally, the Volvo C40 has a towing capacity of 1984 pounds, which will certainly allow it to help you out with some jobs, even if it is not particularly suited for this task when compared to some other Volvo cars.
Prices of the 2023 Volvo C40 Recharge
The Volvo C40 in Canada starts at a manufacturer’s suggested price of $59,950 for the Core version. This is the version you want if you’re interested in the performance and looks of this electric SUV, regardless of the on-board amenities.
